7 Things to Do in Takahashi City, Okayama

Hello people. It’s Mr. Wada back on duty! I would like to share things to do in Takahashi City this time. Takahashi City is in semi-Northern Okayama. It takes about 70 minutes by car or train from Okayama (11 stations). So what’s in Takahashi? What to do there? Here are my suggestions.

7 Things to Do in Takahashi City, Okayama

Takahashi City Library

Takahashi is a small city but it has made such a landmark in its central and this is it. The library. It opened on February 4th, 2017. Turns out, it is like a business building with a book store, Starbucks, small restaurants, etc…and the library! Besides it is connected to the JR Takahashi Station (also the bus terminal) downstairs. Very convenient.

It’s just a few hundred meters away from Fukiya Furusato Village. This coal shaft was used between the Edo era to the Taisho era and now open to visitors. Even on hot summer days the temperature in this coal shaft remains around 10 degrees ALL YEAR AROUND. So it feels cool in summer and warm in winter.

Admission fee is 300 yen for adults.

The library looks very neat. But, can I bellyflop into the middle of that rock garden?
