新たな害虫、襲来 New pests, new concerns

柑橘系の木が育ってきてる。と思ったらなにかいた。

I see citrus trees growing alright. Hang on….there’s something on top.

アゲハチョウの幼虫だ。去年は春先にこいつらに新芽を食い荒らされたので今年はガッチリガード、夏になって暑くなってきたからネットを外したところでした。即捕獲。

Duh. That’s a butterfly larvae. Looks nice but evil. Had it removed.

あと別の柑橘系果樹にこんな虫がついていた。画像検索してみたら、カイガラムシとのこと。カイガラムシは冬にブルーベリーにくっついているのをみたことあるのと、貝殻のようにカチカチだったはずだけどｋれはフニャフニャでキモい。。。冬に硬化するのかな。対策を考えないと。

Also I found these creatures on another citrus tree. Apparently it’s called Cochineal, Kaigaramushi in Japanese. I’ve seen hard ones on blueberry trees in winter but these were gooey yet. Hmm. Gotta consider what to do with it.
