Year 2 – March Week 2: Pruning the Fig Tree

Spring has come and it’s time to prune the fig tree! So today, I’m going to show you how we pruned our 2-year old fig tree.

On the first year of this tree, we didn’t do any pruning. Actually we didn’t have any clue how to manage it at all, so we just let it grow freely(?).

After watching some videos on how to prune figs, I decided to follow the straight-line training.

After pruning. Slowly pulling the remaining two branches down

Some of the branches have roots growing! A good candidate for propagation maybe?

Lots of cuttings for propagation.

Applied this paste to all cuts to prevent diseases.

I will try to propagate the cuttings and hopefully grow some more!
