Annual World Cosplay Summit in Nagoya

Annual World Cosplay Summit in Nagoya

I would like to share our trip to the annual world cosplay summit in Nagoya this time. FYI, Nagoya is in Aichi Prefecture.

Annual World Cosplay Summit in Nagoya

Just like Nipponbashi Street Festa in Osaka, this annual world cosplay summit in Nagoya has become one of the big cosplay events. One big difference of this event is it goes for a week in late July (usually until the first week of August). Everyday different events or shows are scheduled somewhere in the city and the main events on the last day.

Osu Cosplay Parade

Cosplayers gather at Osu Kannon Temple and parade though the Osu Shopping Street. We, audience are allowed to take photos but please don’t ask them to stop or do poses so not to cause traffic.

I see a whole different stuff. Characters from anime, video game, movies, TV commercials, etc. I felt it’s important that it should be enjoyable for anyone like this! The parade goes about an hour.

Top cosplayers.
Star Wars!
Dragon ball gang.

Watch Cosplayers at Oasis 21

The parade in Osu is very brief and we cannot approach the cosplayers during the parade. However, we can communicate with cosplayers closely at OASIS 21 which is right next to Sakae Station. I understand you would be excited but to be polite, always say hi to the cosplayers and ask for permission before taking photos.

Alphonse Elric from Fullmetal Alchemist. Well done!

Cosplay Party at Nipponbashi Street Festa in Osaka

nipponbashi street festa in osaka

Hi there, it’s Mr. Wada back on duty. This time I will share our trip to the cosplay event called Nipponbashi Street Festa in Osaka. You know what cosplay is? It is a made-up word for costume play.

About Nipponbashi Street Festa

It is an annual cosplay event that started in 2005. Anyone can join and non-cosplayers are welcome as well. So we decided to stop by.

Nipponbashi Street Festa in Osaka

It goes mainly around Nipponbashi-suji Arcade where many electronic and anime related stores stand. This street is open for only pedestrians during this event and it will be full of cosplayers wandering around!

Admission Fee

There is no entrance door or anything since it is an outdoor event. However, a pass (2,000 yen) is officially required for each photographer and cosplayer to join. It is available at Animate stores and some other places in Nipponbashi.

Street Festa Begins

As time has come, guys in costumes start appearing. Don’t know new stuff? No worries, you may see classic characters, ones from kids shows and American stuff as well. It would be fun to watch them even without knowing all the characters.

It was fun, though March is still a bit cold. ( >_<) Better bring your jacket(s). Hope the cosplayers won’t catch a cold (hehe).
